I'm reading a book right now that I'm recommending to everyone on this forum, even though I'm less than halfway through it.

The Creative Habit

Tharp is a choreographer who's worked on shows like Movin' Out and Milos Forman's Amadeus movie.

The Creative Habit is almost like a collection of best practices for being creative. She writes about how you can't wait for inspiration, how to focus on your creative tasks, how to get out of creative ruts, overcoming your fears, and more.

It's very thought provoking and highly recommended.

What kinds of things do you do to prep yourself for music creation? Do you have to get yourself into a mode? Or are you so dedicated to your music that you simply can't wait (or your client can't wait) for you to feel like you're ready to work? What do you do to get yourself out of artistic blocks?

Have you made those things a habit without realizing it?
