Logic X causing my ears to ring. (Tinnitus)

Recommended Posts

Hi, everyone, I am new here. This is my first post.

I've been using Logic X for about 2 years now. For the passed 4 months I've had problems with my ears rigging after using Logic for extended periods of time. While I don't have the volume on full blast, just a normal setting, so why should this be?

Since then I have taken precautions (to try) to protect my hearing. I turned the volume a bit lower. Started using earplugs. I had my speaker (Music Angle wireless) right under my computed, so I moved it, eight feet away pointing it up towards the ceiling then placed a piece of foam over it hoping it might help break up the eardrum killer frequency waves. I even started using various supplements for Tinnitus.

None of that helped much at all! I then bought some expensive earplugs rated at 22db again with thinking it must be the frequency wakes vs the loudness. My ringing got so bad at one point that while I was driving with the radio on, songs I've heard like a million times, either I could hardly make out what the person were singing or else the music seemed flatter than usual. Logic is causing me to go deaf!!! A few weeks off of Logic my rigging went down some but not completely. I return to Logic not knowing what else to do, my ears rigging is getting bad again. And It's in both ears. Left ear is worse.

Only other thing I hasn't tried yet is having the volume mute! Ha, ha, ha. Good luck trying to create that killer melody with the volume flipped off!!!

---

Not to try and act arrogant or offend anyone but I believe my lyrics I write are well above average aspiring song writer having the potential with becoming a top 40, if not the top 10. And if I didn't feel this way, I'd just say da' hell with it. Ain't worth losing my hearing. I give up!!!

So the bottom line is, do I just quit using Logic taking my killer lyrics (in my opinion) to my grave, always wondering what if, in order to save my hearing? Or do I proceed using Logic until it causes me to go completely stone deaf as that's just a small sacrifice I'll have to make to (possibly) churn out a top 40?

Please tell me these aren't my only 2 options?? Am I the only Logic user out there who is going deaf without having the volume too high???

______________________________________________________________________________________

(To all those I offended, I stand by what I stated. I believe my lyrics are above average. This is the attitude I would expect all songwriter should have who are seriously trying to break in to the music industry for there's a heck of a lot more competition out there than there was a few decades age. For those of you who don't feel the same way as me, that what you're creating is ground breaking then you're just wasting your time unless you're simply doing this for a hobby. My point was that I strongly believe the music I'm creating has a lot of potential therefor I don't want any road blocks standing in my way such as Logic causing my ears to ring and not having any solution to prevent it other than to toss in the towel. Is that wrong? Should I believe my lyrics are just average or suck? If that's how those of you feel then what da' heck is the point? You're not likely to succeed.)

Top402b,

A lot of contributing factors can cause or exacerbate Tinnitus but very unlikely that Logic Pro X would be at the top, or even on the list, of possible causes. More likely your speaker, listening volume, or other factor(s) is the cause. Stress or anxiety can contribute to Tinnius as can an underlying health problem, diet, lack of exercise, earwax, ear bone density change, and a myriad of other possibilities, I would suggest seeing a specialist to identify the root cause. The link below as some good information on Tinnitus.

Can't comment on your other question other than to say a lot of lyricists might just use pen/paper or a word processor to formulate their lyrics,

Regarding markno999 response

(A lot of contributing factors can cause or exacerbate Tinnitus but very unlikely that Logic Pro X would be at the top, or even on the list, of possible causes.)

Logic Pro X exacerbates my Tinnitus. I don't suspect that it does. I know it does, therefor while Logic Pro X may not be at the top of your list it sure is on the top of mine.

(More likely your speaker, listening volume, or other factor(s) is the cause.)

As stated, the brand speaker I use is Music Angle wireless. I have tried checked but hasn't seen where Music Angle has had a recall due to their speakers causing Tinnitus. I have purchased two other speakers to find their sound quality isn't nearly as good as Music Angle. I don't believe it's my speaker to blame, like I stated I believe it has to do with the frequency waves signal, or white noise or whatever you wanna call it coming from Logic, not that my volume is too high. (My volume is set low.)

(Stress or anxiety can contribute to Tinnitus as can an underlying health problem, diet, lack of exercise, earwax, ear bone density change, and a myriad of other possibilities.)

Yes I do have stress or anxiety, most of it at the moment is due to the fact that Logic is making me go deaf and I don't know what to do about it other than to stop using it? I also have a few other health problems, therefore what you're stating is if I do have some or all of these problems you mentioned then using Logic X might make my ears ring, right? No, I think what you're stating is that I'm wrongly blaming it on Logic. Let me be a little bit less vague. I don't suspect that my ears ringing may be caused by Logic X. Logic X is definitely causing my ears to ring.

(I would suggest seeing a specialist to identify the root cause. The link below as some good information on Tinnitus.)

Believe me, I have done plenty of research and reading on Tinnitus. I would suspect very strongly that if I saw a specialist, it which I would of course explain to him that Logic X is making my ears ring. He would simply say, then stop using Logic, would he not?

OK, thank you for your help markno999. Again am I the only Logic user out there who is going deaf from Logic without having the volume turned up too high??? If anyone knows if there are any plugins I can use or how I can change my Logic settings?

Sorry but ofcourse Logic Pro is not causing you tinitus any more than listening to music at the same volumes from any other application.

That any one program is more harmful than another is one of the most outrageous claims i have ever seen. There is only one way to solve your problem. Listen to music at lower volumes.

loud sound, loud high-pitched sound can hurt your ears. distortion can hurt your ears. a DAW (such as logic X) doesn't do these things by default; it's what you do with it... and your monitors.

turn the music down now; get a simple pair of (better) monitors. don't turn up the high end eq... sort this out asap.

HAHAHAHA

Not trying to "act arrogant or offend" (gotta use your own words here), but this is the most silly post I've ever seen...

So now you're saying that a program is causing that...???? What the...??

Yes, people at Apple have access to some secret frequencies that affect people in a way that other companies don't... oh my...

And then, saying that your lyrics are above the average Logic user...? What does that even mean? Not all Logic users write lyrics, that's the first thing. Then, you don't know what other people write, that's second. And then everyone thinks they have lyrics that can be on the top 40... well, then why aren't they? ;)

Dude, I'm sorry, but your problem is not your ears ringing... :P haha

Craziest thread ever!! And if you take the time to read some reviews of those speakers, the levitating effet is cool but they sound like $hit. Go wonder...

Blink

seriously, levitation is far more important than sound; every pro knows that.

Of course, how can you get to the "top" 40 any other way?

But seriously, I think someone should maybe look for some therapy, there are some telltale symptoms here of serious mental disorder(s) (inflated sense of self-worth, for starters). The main thing being that the OP refuses to take any of the reasonable advice: he just "knows" that it is Logic doing this. If someone "knows" things as sure as that, there is an issue. In the head of the knower, that is.

Looking back we could have seen it coming: he never asked about how it could be like this, he was looking for others who have the same experience, because "there must be others..." coïncidence has it that I went to my GP yesterday because for the first time ever I had a low pitch (around 100 Hz) tinnitus. The first day I got it I thought it was an engine running somewhere, or a pump or something electric (as 100 Hz is the first harmonic of the AC frequency). But it was all in my head. Luckily, it is now gone. O, and it developed after I had not used Logic for a week, so I got my tinnitus from not using Logic.

My conclusions: the OP should seek help, and not using Logic gives you tinnitus. What is the opposite of a tinfoil hat?

For all of you who don't believe when I say Logic is causing my Tinnitus. That's your opinion and that's your right to think what ever you want. It's a free world, I could care less. But with that said, If that be the case then maybe this thread simply isn't right for you. I don't think people (or dicks) should be spamming someone's thread to death with BS when they have nothing to say that might help. I'm not going to name anyone in particular, you know who you are. Those who simply can't help themselves to respond to this reply defending their high ego, and to farther run me into the ground calling me a fool for what I strongly believe and or to farther spam about BS. I suppose like a bad drug addiction Dicks simply can't help themselves.

FAKE NEWS, WITCH HUNT. Maybe if Trump says it enough times, it'll make it true. NO COLLUSION!

Everyone just keep saying Logic isn't causing my Tinnitus. Great now my problem is solved! Logic is no longer causing my Tinnitus!! So many people defending there precious little baby Logic. Dare anyone say anything bad about Logic for she is like family and the pool little girl can't defend herself. My God, I almost feel as if I need to hire myself a lawyer!

Craziest thread ever!! And if you take the time to read some reviews of those speakers, the levitating effet is cool but they sound like $hit. Go wonder...

I don't recall stating that my speaker levitates, if I did I misspoke. I believe I simply stated my speaker brand was Music Angel wireless. MY SPEAKER DOES NOT LEVITATE. REPEATING, MY SPEAKER DOES NOT LEVITATE!

Why don't I switch to another DAW at least 2 people asked? I have worked with many other music writing software and have found nothing that matches to Logic. (minus the rigging.) I have invested money into buying Logic. I also just bought myself a Mac mini costing $600 since using Logic has to be with an Apple computer. I'm on a tight budget. I've got little more money to invest in my music endeavor. If those who say Music Angel sucks why aren't you recommending a better brand? I agree this is the crazyiest thread ever thanks to all those in-sympathetic dicks making it that way.

Dude, I honestly think you should seek counseling. Not that you are going to listen, going by the evidence of your replies, but I just want to say it anyway. You come across as being very uptight. Saying that is not being a dick, that is confronting you with your rather megalomaniacal demeanor thus far.

I also think it would be best if this thread were closed.
