JamesK
I'm thinking of trading in my 27 in iMac for the 24 in M1 iMac. Has anyone made that switch and how do you find the difference in screen real estate?
facej
You can put a large number of pixels on the 4.5k display - not as many as a 5k iMac, but close. It really all depends on how good your eyesight is. I run my 5k iMac at 2880x1620 which is a bit larger than the default 2560x1440 - 3200x1800 is a bit too small for my old eyes. The true pixel dimension of the 5k is 5120 x 2880, so the standard display is half that. The 4.5k iMac is 4480 × 2520, half that is 2240x1260 - so you should get a very readable display with close to the same number of pixels - still far bigger and more readable than any mac laptop screen. All depends on what you want to see
JamesK
Thank you! I am also getting older and my eyesight is quite poor so I think I'd better stick with a 27-in. Perhaps the Mac Mini M1 with an external monitor would be a better idea for me. Cheers
