David Nahmani
Have you seen it? It's amazing! I haven't read the book beforehand, and some of my friends who have were a little disapointed by the movie (as usual when you read the book before..) but I though it was great. I love the "Tim" charachter (from the BBC's "The Office" series, a little masterpiece itself), I love the Marvin depressed robot, the Jim-Carrey-ish sam rockwell.. A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools. nihil_domini
You should read Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency too. Another wonderful work by the late great Douglas Adams.
bubbles
I've seen the latest movie and heard the original BBC radio show, but the version that made me laugh out loud the most was definitely the audiobook, (unabridged) read by Douglas Adams himself. His comedic timing is dead-on, and it's a gas to hear his delivery of the voices of Marvin, Slarty Bartfast, etc.
pantomimeHorse
The audiobook is DEFINITELY the thing. My brother-in-law went to Cambridge with Adams and is, in fact, featured in the first title volume of the series. Somewhere round about a quarter-way through, Prefect says, " ..... who did you think I meant ? Bloody Martin Smith from Croydon ? ..... " Well, "Bloody Martin Smith from Croydon" married my wife's sister in 1979 ! Ho, ho. Small world. 8)
