Twister
Currently there doesn't seem to be a way to select automation subtracks. This is unintuitive, it conflicts the rest of the UI flow and causes some crucial actions to be implemented as stupid menu commands. Clicking on any other track header selects it and its content (regions). Clicking on automation subtrack header is confusing: If the main track is selected, it selects its regions, otherwise it deselects selected regions or does nothing. An intuitive and consistent result from clicking on the automation subtrack header would be selecting the automation subtrack and all the automation in it. Redesigning the track selection flow like this would also help to get rid of some menu actions that are currently nonsensical to say the least: Think about what the command "Delete visible automation on selected track" actually means. No matter how many automation subtracks you have visible, it only deletes the automation lane on the selected main track. Instead you could select any visible automation by clicking/shift-clicking/cmd-clicking on subtrack headers and hitting backspace, as you would do to delete any other track area content. Also you could create automation nodes for selected automation track. And while you're at it, why not make all automation subtracks show up by default when clicking on the triangle. Having to hold down option key is unintuitive and inconsistent design, because you don't have to hold down magic keys when you unfold a track stack. TLDR; Automation subtracks should be selectable because it would make many automation-related actions easy and intuitive.
David Nahmani
I agree, it would be nice to have a more coherent U.I. between all types of tracks whenever possible.
