Plea for pre-L8 plugin window link mode.

Ok, ever since L8 the plugin window linking option IMO is almost completely useless.

Unless all your tracks plugin chains are organized the same all throughout, how much sense does it make to open, say, an EQ on whatever channel, then switch to another channel and see the overdrive pop up that you've inserted there? Right, that doesn't make any sense in most use scenarios.

Alright, for those not in the knows, here's how the plugin window linking worked pre LP8: When you activated it, plugins windows would only alternate if you actively opened another one, but *not* when selecting different channels. In other words: It worked the way it does now when you don't switch channels all throughout. For most situations that was just excellent. And it's been one of the reasons why you wouldn't drown in plugin windows all the time or get RSI by closing (or CMD-W-ing) them. Unlike in, say, Cubase. Or pretty much any other sequencer for the matter. Logic was the only one not requiring you to close plugin windows all the time. Fantastic.

With the event of LP8, the fun was over. Killed. Without any reason. In favour of that usually horrible "lets open a new plugin window all the time when you select another track" feature. Does anyone really use that on a daily base? Most people I watch using Logic (and that includes some pretty experienced folks) don't use the link option at all. Back in the pre-L8 days, they would.

Now, long story made short: I want that option back. And well, I don't even want it to replace the "new" way of linking, it should be there alternatively. Click on the link icon once = new linking mode, click twice = old linking mode. As easy as that. Or make it two buttons. There's more than enough wasted space in the plugin title bars.
