Easier way to Reassign Track (re-use existing plugins)

Often I have a bunch of plugins already loaded in a project and I want to change an existing track to use an existing plugin.

The way to do this is to right click, "Reassign Track" and then dive into some of the menus.

This is pretty cumbersome and time consuming. It would be great if there were key commands for the following:

  • Reassign Track (Software Instrument)
  • Reassign Track (Audio)
  • Reassign Track to Next Channel (Software Instrument)
  • Reassign Track to Previous Channel (Software Instrument)
  • Reassign Track to Next Channel (Audio)
  • Reassign Track to Previous Channel (Audio)

Yeah, that makes sense if the track is available in the current view.

When I'm inside a folder (not a track stack, but a classic folder), I often don't have the track available, so I have to create a new track (or duplicate a track in the folder) and then reassign.

You can also open a MIDI Environment window and drag and drop the desired channel strip to a track header to reassign it. If you organize your MIDI Environment in layers for each type of channel strip or category of effects you are using and set up a screenset especially for this purpose, this could be an interesting workflow?

It is an interesting workflow idea, and it would allow organizing instruments into categories instead of one big flat list.

I didn't realize this, but creating a layer in the environment creates a corresponding sub-menu in the "Reassign Track" menu.

Dragging and dropping from the environment to the arrange window is an interesting idea, but it's too much mousing for me. I prefer a keyboard-based workflow
