rafesco
So... for decades every DAW I've seen has a search engine for plug-in inserts and input/send/output destinations, but not Logic for some reason. There's PlugSearch out there, which is great, but that shouldn't be a third-party feature, right? And also, plugsearch does not work for I/O's. A great example of a functional search engine is the one from Pro Tools. Click an insert, type the name of the plugin (E.G. RC-20), hit enter and boom, there it is for you. Click a send, type the name of the bus (e.g. HALL), hit enter and boom, there goes your hall reverb send. Is there any sign of this basic and essential feature being implemented to Logic in the near future? Edit: I submit this feature request to Apple via Logic's Feedback Form at least twice a month lol. I invite everyone else to do it This would be such a big time saver. https://www.apple.com/feedback/logic-pro.html
David Nahmani
Definitely agree, that's a must-have functionality, that hopefully will be integrated in an upcoming Logic version. Meanwhile there is a 3rd party solution: Logic Pro Plugin Search Application

Meanwhile there is a 3rd party solution: Logic Pro Plugin Search Application Thanks, David! At least I’m happy to know that other users agree on how basic this is. Yes, PlugSearch is great, but as I said, it still doesn’t apply to I/O and buses. Here’s what Logic should have:
David Nahmani
Oh sorry I didn't even notice that you'd mentioned PlugSearch in your original post. Yes, I agree that a comprehensive search feature in the Mixer would be a great workflow efficiency tool.
sambosun
Here is my proposal including mockups that I've sent directly to Apple in 2018!!! As I use Studio One and Nuendo a lot as well I feel your pain!!! It would speed up my workflow if it where possible to search and filter the plugin list via a build in spotlight search to narrow down that list and make it quicker to choose the plugin. The same goes for the sidechain list in each plugin window. I personally would like to quickly narrow down the sidechain list with a spotlight like search! the same goes for the Output assignment etc > whenever you open such menu the Search field should automatically be activated instead of manually clicking into it first. I think we can agree that in any modern workflow the less we need to scroll and click through (deep diving) menus the better! Bus filter Output filter Plugin filter Sidechain filter

Bus filter Output filter Plugin filter Sidechain filter That's exactly what we need! Although I personally would prefer, in the case of Buses, to be able to search for the destination instead of the bus number (e.g. search for 1/4 DELAY instead of "Bus 33"). But that's basically what's missing in Logic, and it's such a basic feature. I use Pro Tools a lot, but have used Cubase and Ableton Live in the past and I miss this feature so much. sambosun
!!! Of course!!!! We want to search for names or bus umbers if they have no name although I personally don't like Logics fixed bus layout. I prefer how Pro Tools, Studio One or Cubase/ Nuendo handle that. I wish they changed that as well…
David Nahmani
Here is my proposal including mockups that I've sent directly to Apple in I love it! Definitely agree with this. Simple, elegant, efficient: exactly what Apple software should be.
thesheep
I am late to the party, but I've just installed Pluginsearch and it's a real game changer. Can't quite believe how much quicker it makes it to set up projects. Brilliant.
