Audio Regions moving when cutting [BUG]

Recommended Posts

This one has been bothering me for quite some time.

Please report it here: Apple - Logic Pro - Feedback

Steps to recreate behaviour

  1. Record some audio or drag a loop into the tracks area. 4 measures is enough.

  2. Option-drag the track header down to the empty area to duplicate both the track and region (This step is just used as a confirmation.).

  3. Zoom into bar 3 on the first region. Zoom all the way into sample level.

  4. Move the playhead somewhere between 3 1 1 1 and 3 1 1 2 just to make the effect more obvious.

  5. Split at playhead, use the marquee tool to cut, or the scissors. Any method will do.

Expected Results:

The region is cut and nothing more.

Actual Results:

The region is cut into two but the second region moves a sample or more.

The cut also creates a large gap between the regions.

To confirm

  1. Insert a gain plug-in on the second track and flip the polarity.

  2. Press play and you will hear and see that the two tracks go from complete null to phasing when hitting bar 3.

I included a small screenshot to illustrate:

what exactly happens? (nothing like that happening here).

EDIT: ok, got it. yikes!

when you.. split a audio region by cycle area..

and then hit a comand to repeat that region let's say.. 3 times...

and then you do it again with more tracks.. audio.. and midi..

everything goes COMPLETE out of synchronization... It is A Gigantic BUG..

and Logic Pro X Theme has not it FIXED.. .. very hard to work this way...

you have to do it all manually.. like in 2004...

this BUG has Not been Fixed in the New Version 10.2.3 of Logic... DAMN ¡., :x

The results of Using "Repeat Regio/Events" with a Key Command is Disastrous and everything Goes complete out

of synchronization... Apple ?? sleeping in the clouds.

The problem with this BUG is that this is "Basics" a basic thing that should work perfectly in any DAW.. if things

like this don't work.. the rest will fall apart.. this is a Terrible BUG a important BUG that should be FIXED immediately.

should be in the TOP lists of BUGS to be fixed right away By Logic Pro X Theme.

Hi.

Unless I did something wrong, It seems that the bug is very soft for me.

You can see in the pic that region borders seems to not join together.

And the waveform don't match exactly with the copy below.

It seems that it's a graphic glitch in this case.

Anyway, no out of phase issue with the copy of this audio file before cutting :?

I confirm this (BUG) is not Fixed in the new Update 10.2.4

I think there's 2 BUGS in One... I mean I "split by playhead position" selecting the audio and the midi track at the same time..

and in the midi tracks add a longer part to it.. and in the Audio Track Moves the Position of the audio FIles..

This BUG is a Real Real problem.... because when you are in full Zoom Out and for some reason you split some region and repeat it

let's say 50 times.. everything goes out od order and synchronization I hope that for the Next Update 10.2.5 gets Fixed.

I don't know if I have the same bug or something different.

I'm working on a long-ish project (1h live show). I split a region from a track in order to move it to its own track. Sometimes with split at playhead, sometimes with marquee tool (maybe that can make a difference? I need to test it).

I drag it to its own track, and it's totally out of place. Not by a few samples, but completely out of sync. I hit "move to original recorded position" and it gets fixed. I'm not dragging horizontally, I have that pref activated. This is driving me crazy!

And then, on one of these projects, I made the mistake of moving the originally recorded position, so that fix doesn't work for me. I will have to bounce and replace all tracks so they get a new "original recording position".
