You want BLACK (channel color)? Without hack? Here you go...

Recommended Posts

I accidentally created that channel color, when importing channels from an old v8 session.

Save it somewhere, then import the channel into any session, et voilà black channel color. Then you can also color the regions black.

Have fun

Thanks so much Stardustmedia, this is so useful! Can you please make a White one?

Wonder if you can see the waveform on a white region.

How would I color other channels black as well?

You'd probably have to start out with a template that has the precolored black channel strips, or duplicate and then copy over the plugins from the other colored channel strips to the black channel strip. There's no short way of doing this...

How do I save the black channel without all the other files ? I want a save as but how do I leave out all the instruments in your old session ?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean here: I downloaded @stardustmedia's file and it doesn't have any other instruments? There was however an audio file referenced in the Project Audio browser pane, maybe that's what you mean? You can just press F to open that pane, select that file, press delete to remove it, then save that again.

Not sure . I just want the black color for a channel strip in the future  . I’m not doing something right. When I save as

it saves the whole song without the instruments…asks me to ignore all the tracks of the original session.  that I don’t want . I totally appreciate the black color for the channel though …how do I just keep the black color for a channel ? Sorry I am probably making this seem harder than it is

Personnaly I saved the black instrument as a patch, it's now in my library and I can recall it.

Not sure I’ll try again . I think I need to save it into a session that has the black colored channel ?

I’m no lt sure why I can’t figure this out . I see the original session with the black Colored channel I want . I must have to delete all the rest of the session? Then save just the channel I want ?

I assume you know how to save an instrument with all its channel settings as a patch, so you just have to do that. The Stardustmedia's patch is empty (no instrument or fx), when you'll recall it you'll just have to add the instrument and fxs you'll want

Well, in Logic you have the possibility to save an instruments+its settings as a "patch" thus you can recall it in an other project.
