Setting track length in Logic Pro X

You could not adjust the lenght of one track. You could adjust the length of the project, which will adjust the length of all the tracks of the project.

You could adjust the length of each region discretely depending to certain conditions.

MIDI regions are the easiest to deal with, as they impose no limit (up to a certain degree).

Audio regions OTOH could not be lengthen beyond the audio file actual length they represent; which limit could however be circumvent.

Here are different methods:

To adjust the project's length (via its end position), after (temporarely) disabling the musical grid or displaying the secondary ruler, you could use the method described here.

Adjusting the MIDI region length (will automatically lenghten the project's length if latter happen to be shorter than region's length) which could easily be done from within the Event list editor, after selecting the region in the track area, it will get highlighted in the Event List editor where you could type the desired length.

Adjusting the audio region's length beyond its underlying audio file original lenght would require to loop it, dragging the right border to the desired time position, then convert the loop to real regions which you would finally join together. If you don't need the material inside it, you could silence it.

If you only intend to record, setting the locators to the desired value would do the same job...
