Tabnetic
For those of us who faithfully backup our sessions/audio files onto external drives, I just read something today in Sound on Sound that I found quite interesting: Be sure to "exercise" those external drives once you backup your precious stuff on them...about once or twice a month or so. I used to just carbon-copy and put them on a shelf somewhere, but the grease can lock-up in the bearings that spin the platters, and one day you'll try to load your files and the drives won't spin up. So make sure you connect the drives, load a session and access the data to give them some "workout." This might be common knowledge to some, but I didn't know it, and thought I would pass it on to avoid disaster! Tab
David Nahmani
That's great advice. I will move this to the Tips and Tricks section. Thanks!
