Logic Pro X backing tracks

Thu Mar 05, 2020 4:03 pm

Hi!

My name is Martin.

I have the following backing tracks transcripted for Logic Pro X.

Since I am a guitarist myself, I have only transcripted the rest of the instruments.

I will appreciate advices to improve the transcriptions (notes played, instruments, effects, sounds, volumes, etc).

DISCLAIMER: I took my licences when transcribing the songs (shorter versions, mix of live and studio versions, etc), so if you are interested in a particular song don't expect to listen to a copy of the original.

Regards,

Martin.

LIST OF SONGS (CONT. IN POST 19,20,22,23,24,25, 26 & 27)

Pink Floyd:

SOYCD: Only part V, starts around minute 09:43. Since there's no sax solo the last bit is based on the Live at Wembley 1974 version available on YouTube.
SOYCD.zip
(2.1 MiB) Downloaded 10 times

Time: a timeless Pink Floyd classic! Only the Gilmour solo section.
Time v2.zip
(9.32 MiB) Downloaded 10 times

Have a Cigar: this one I did it along time ago, so it's a very short version were I play the main riffs of the song.
Have a cigar.zip
(416.1 KiB) Downloaded 11 times

Any Colour You Like: a challenging song to transcribe Wright's synthesisers. I think I didn't get the Gilmour guitar effect quite right, would love some advice on that. The Gilmour solo is under construction...
Any Colour You Like.zip
(2.07 MiB) Downloaded 11 times

Rush:

La Villa Strangiato: perhaps one of Rush's greatest instrumentals? Neil Peart is amazing here. No solo...sorry I can't play it :(
La Villa Strangiato.zip
(337.65 KiB) Downloaded 10 times

The Twilight Zone: Alex's guitar work here is really fun to play, this tune has a little bit of everything to do. No solo either but you can extend the drums and bass to create the backing track easily.
The Twilight Zone (0000 a 0123).zip
(422.95 KiB) Downloaded 7 times

The Beatles: since 1965 onwards The Beatles started working only in the studio, so their songs have a lot of nuances I find really difficult to transcribe in Logic. I will grow a pair and transcribe more Beatles because they are amazing and really fun to play.

Come Together: love Ringo's drumming here.
Come Together.zip
(733.19 KiB) Downloaded 17 times

Mother Nature Son: great acoustic piece by Paul. The orchestration of Martin is beautiful.
Mother Nature Son.zip
(503.55 KiB) Downloaded 6 times

Octopus's Garden: one of the few Ringo's songs written for The Beatles. Always thought it talked about Ringo's wish of living in a garden full of pussies, but I'm pretty sure I'm wrong. Great George guitar playing!
Octopus's Garden.zip
(499.46 KiB) Downloaded 7 times

Something: another example of the songwriting capabilities of George.
Something.zip

Hi Martin,
I'm new to logic and DAWs in general. It would be nice to try on of your backing tracks/mixes. As a PF fan I am interested in Shine On, Time and Have A Cigar.

Please do upload the files, otherwise it would be quite frustrating for someone finding this post years from now and not being able to contact you to get the files.

Hi Carl!

Of course I can upload them. A brief description:

SOYCD: only part V, starts around minute 09:43.
Time: only the Gilmour solo section.
Have a Cigar: this one I did it along time ago, so it's a very short version were I play the main riffs of the song.

I wont' erase my guitar parts so it's easier for you to understand which section of the songs I'm playing.
In spite the fact the songs aren't complete, the main sections are written down so you can base yourself on this transcriptions to complete the rest of the song (if you need help understanding how to edit the file please let me know).

Feel free to give any advices regarding the transcription or the guitar playing (there's always room for improvement :D).

I haven't sorted out how to upload the files in the most efficient way, so please bare with me for a few days.

PD: I'm currently working in "Any Colour You Like", I can share this one with you also.

Thanks so far! It looks like we both are pink floyd nerds ... it's a good nerd type to be :-).
In my home there is the corona quarantine and plenty of time to research Logic.
Hope you find out how uploading is done - but no hurry!

Correct. In order to keep file size small we removed all audio files. I thought that was the point, to share the backing files made of all the MIDI Programming, but without the actual audio recordings? Otherwise that would make for a lot of large files.

Hi Martin,
So nice midi work from you. Looking forward to look into the rest of the backing tracks as well!
It was fun to both record the guitar part to your track and work with Logic technically. I have much to learn.
Regarding the Time project:
I changed the sections a bit. Deleted the first "Fm-section" in your project and copied your "Dmaj-section" in there. More like the original DSOTM version - and I could include the little guitar intro riff (notes G-F#-E) and the delicious pick scrape :-).
Also changed the EQ on the bass - more bottom. Worked better both through headphones and my monitors. Maybe the bass track should present a more solid an wider bottom bass picture.
The keys are very useful as you have managed to get it both rhythmically and nice sounding.
To show my guitar solo played to your Time-project I've mixed down an mp3 file. I used two guitar tracks panned 25% L end R. L is the Logic MESA amp, and R is the HIWATT amp. We will see if I manage to upload it here...

/Carl

Black Sabbath:

After Forever: had to change the tuning (from "Master of Reality" onwards Iommi tuned down his guitar to be able to play because he lost a few fingers) and slow down the song (to fast for me!). Fun solo to play.
