lingtalfi
Hi, I would like to add realism to my programmed drums by playing with the opening of the hi-hat. In logic pro X, at the bottom of the drummer's drum kit designer window, there is a little triangle which contains an "Input Mapping" that we can set to "GM + ModWheel controls hihat opening level". That's nice, but as soon as I convert my drummer track to a midi region, as far as I know, I loose this ability to automate that hihat opening level. So my question is, how should I proceed (maybe there are some other libraries that do the trick?) if I want to create a midi drum from scratch, and then control the opening of the hihat using a CC like the modwheel for instance during playback (to automate it)? David Nahmani
as soon as I convert my drummer track to a midi region, as far as I know, I loose this ability to automate that hihat opening level. No, that ability is still present: Drum Kit Designer and Drummer are two distinct features. Drummer just generates MIDI data that triggers DKD. DKD treats all MIDI data the same way independent of where it comes from, wether from Drummer, from programming MIDI notes and CC in a region, or performing them live on a MIDI controller. lingtalfi
Oh yes you're right! (I must have made a mistake somewhere in my tests) I re-tried it, using GM+ModWheel controls HiHat... and it totally reacts to the modulation wheel for any non-foot hihat stroke. Awesome, back in business, thanks

mwilson707
Hi there - I came across this post and was wondering if you could share a bit of information as to how you were able to automate your hi hats using the mod wheel. I can modulate the hi hat opening during playback no problem, but can’t figure out how to automate so it will play the same every time. Thanks in advance! Did you live recorded the mod wheel ( or overdubbing ) ? Play your hat track then overdub the mod wheel, then in the piano roll Midi CC automation you can see the Modwheel datas ....
