skijumptoes
it's never about the engineering - it's ALWAYS about the song & performance. For most people it should be about the song, but - Have you ever met a true audiophile? They *ONLY* care about sound quality, they don't care for the song or the performance. I had a friend who fell into the audiophile hole and he was spending something crazy like 2k/meter on speaker cabling to listen to CDs!!! - he couldn't even afford it all at the time and got into serious debt building his system. Once complete, If he ever put music on for me to listen to, it was nothing he actually liked musically and i wasn't allowed to listen unless i sat where he had marked the carpet in his apartment to get the EXACT sound as it was meant. It was just a quest for quality, fuelled by dream-laced magazines that he was reading. I used to argue with him for hours on the subject, it used to annoy me greatly. Who cares what quality a bland song is? Or maybe it's beyond my comprehension... i dunno, but 90% of my favourite songs aren't the greatest of quality, cause of when/how they were recorded - a lot of which are live. fisherking
Or albums that have been remastered and sound just louder and harsher, not necessarily better. this, so sad (& disappointing).
fisherking
i think the music is the most important element, but that doesn't mean the tech to get there isn't important (ok, i guess this is obvious). everything counts, and we try to get things to sound (and feel) as best as possible but i'd still rather hear a great song done in garageband (or a billie eilish song ) than a state-of the art recording of a mediocre song. we want it all (and should get that); a great piece of music, 'perfectly' recorded and mixed. triplets
Man I wish Logic would add something that Premier Pro has: a "nudge" tool (unless I'm missing something) There is a nudge key command in Logic, Option-right arrow. And other commands as well to nudge by beat, smpte frame, note value, ticks, beats, you name it. If that's what you're referring to. Edit: Always confuse the modifier key symbols. D'oh! David Nahmani
There is a nudge key command in Logic, Control-right arrow. The default key commands are Option-Right arrow and Option-Left arrow. Then to set the Nudge value you can use the following mnemonics: • Measure = Control-Option-M • Beat = Control-Option-B • Division = Control-Option-D • Tick = Control-Option-T • Frame = Control-Option-F • Half-Frame = Control-Option-H • Sample = Control-Option-S • 1 ms = Control-Option-1 • 10 ms = Control-Option-
Ashermusic
Why? What David said. Also, some plugins you may add sound better at the higher sample rates.
