How to use vst plugins in Logic

Logic doesn't use VST plugins. PG-8X is only available as a VST (there is an old beta version as an AU, but it's best avoided. Martin hasn't gotten around to do a proper AU version yet.)

To use it in Logic, you'd have to use a wrapper, such as Blue Cat's Patchwork, which itself is an AU plugin (and thus works in Logic) but can host VST plugins inside it.

There is also 'Unify' by pluginguru, It just happens to function as a VST wrapper in Logic but is much more. It comes with the PG-8x plugin and several other synths. Also includes many audio and MIDI FX and and their own sample player. It is new and the developers are constantly adding new features and new patches. Demo version is also available.

It's on the developers list to do one day, but not a priority (ie, he's off doing other things and isn't spending development time on PG8X currently.)

The reason I mentioned that was because of the following...

He mentions the WDL-OL Framwork

Which is suppose to make it easy to create plug-ins in VST and AU using the same source.

Kushview Element is free and open source.

I tested this out in Logic Pro X and here's PG-8X in Element in Logic.

One thing to note, if you do this you'll be loading 2 AU's, Element and PG-8X.

You should email the PG-8X developer about creating a AU version.

This is exactly what I needed.
I have been trying to get the VK1 running.. & no AU. I have contacted them & asked if they would consider wrapping it. but thats not helping me now.
Either way this works great & I have 8 macros as such to link perimeters to so I have full control of automation!

Just perfect!

It has crashed logic a few times & I have to "recover" but thats not really a big deal as I don't lose anything in the process!

^Thanks mate
