BouncyJones
I have an imac, roughly three years old. If I bought a mini dvi to dvi converter, and then a dvi to hdmi converter, would it look decent on an HDTV? It's 32 inches. Not enormous, but not tiny. Anyone done this for their Logic screensets? Does it look stupid or good? Screenshots would be ideal. Just a thought. Thank you for your time.
buzwah
I just bought a Samsung 27" HDTV and hooked it up to my G5 and I'm very happy with it. Some of the Apple purists will say the resolution isn't as good as the Mac monitors which I agree with but for what I'm doing mostly with Logic it's sufficient. Not to mention the price difference. 8)
Ashermusic
What is bizarre to me is that I am starting to see some HDTV 1080 HDMI TVs that are cheaper than the same size computer monitors. Whats is up with that? Isn't a TV just a monitor with extra stuff like tuners?
Brent Nussey
Just get one of these: http://www.cecompass.com/minidvitohdmiadaptercableforappleimacmacbookpowerbook.aspx I have a couple, they work fine on my 40" HDTV. I still prefer to use a monitor myself, but if your TV can be worked in to your setup effectively, why not? Anyway, it's great for watching movies and videos on your TV from the computer... BouncyJones
I ended up going ahead with it. If I had known how awesome the setup would be, I would've bought a 40 inch television in the first place. At the time though, I really wasn't thinking about using a TV in conjunction with making music. I am LOVING using my TV as my viewing monitor for Logic. It's really freed me up in a lot of ways. I see myself upgrading to a larger TV in the relatively new future and just going on from there.
buzwah
It's so much more cost effective. I bought mine for $520 Aus Dollars after a bit of hunting on the net. The Apple equivalent is $1,299 in Australia. I'm loving mine, & the other bonus is that if I decide to watch TV just plug in an aerial & voila!
