rickenbacker360
My MBP has a single Thunderbolt port which doubles as a mini-display port (which is used for my non-TB 27" monitor). Obviously, I cannot use TB when connected to my monitor. Is there any known way of having my cake and eating it too? To be clear, I am interested in using UAD Apollo interface so I will definitely need something which truly works and is reliable. I'm probably asking for too much. So, all-in-all, since my 27-inch is not TB, I need something that takes output from MBP, gives me TB and mini-display. (One can only dream!). Eric Cardenas
I believe the Apollo has passthrough, at least the regular Apollo and the 16. You should be able to connect your Mac to the interface and then the interface to the monitor.
rickenbacker360
And that passthrough would drive a NON-TB display? Right now, Apple has made the on-board port work as both TB and mini-display. Fingers crossed! Thanks Eric.
Eric Cardenas
I have a similar setup here. A Thunderbolt RAID enclosure connected to a 27 inch monitor via display port. No issues whatsoever.
rickenbacker360
Thank you, Eric! You made my day! my UAD-2 Solo/Laptop express card is getting very long in the tooth and I'm facing the proverbial upgrade. And... I love my 17-inch MBP. stardustmedia
No issues here either, running this chain: iMac > (TB) > Apogee Thunderbridge > (TB-HDMI-adapter) > 47" TV screen Usually every TB gear has a pass through. Just keep in mind that all screens must be connected at the end of the chain.
rickenbacker360
Thanks all! I will call UAD and get their affirmation s to what I can do with my setup. I'm very thrilled if I can keep things the same for my MBP. Ciao!
