Flunkychicken
Hi everyone, I usually produce breakbeat tunes and barely notice the noise from my dual G4. Of course, that was until I tried making some subtle ambient stuff...... Now I've noticed it, I can't seem to be able to ignore it! I've found a rather useful document online http://xlr8yourmac.com/systems/g4_mirrored_drive_doors/noise_reduction/g4_ddr_noise_reduction.html only problem is that it's a tad old and 60x60x25 fans which move that much air with that little noise are no where to be seen online.... Any suggestions boys + girls? Thanks
Flunkychicken
No one here tried changing the fans in their G4 psu before?
camillo jr
I got my fans replaced a few months after I got my G4, Apple had this free (except shipping) replacement program where they would ship the fans and you install them. It was so noisy, much better now but I eventually put it in a closet.
Flunkychicken
Yeah I heard about that. Apparently lots of Mac user complained about the noise, which resulted in Apple issueing a replacement. Wish they still did that now.... What about replacing the whole PSU?
fader8
Apple had this free (except shipping) replacement program where they would ship the fans and you install them. I took advantage of that. The kit had a new fan and power supply. Knocked 10dB off the top!
