Chocro
Hi, I made a solo violin midi track. I want to "ride" the fader up or down DURING a note many times in the track for a more realistic performance. I could use the automation but it is too tedious or slow. What is the best way to do this? Thanks a lot
Plowman
What you're describing is most commonly done with the mod wheel, played live as you record the notes or in a second pass after the notes are recorded. This assumes that the solo violin you're playing responds to the mod wheel. Often they are used for expression, vibrato, and cross-fading -- i.e., things that bring more life to the sound. You used the term automation. Nearly everything recorded in real time becomes automation. I assume the tedium you mention is that of manually moving lines up and down with the mouse. Mod wheels will make this much easier.
