DJ Mixes in LOGIC

Landslide

Recommended Posts

Normally when i do a dj mix I record from vinyl and CD into Logic and use the automation to make really nice mixes.

I have a job to do which envolves a DJ mix /cut up of more than 70 tunes into a regular 70 minute CD.

I was wondering if there was a plugin that emulated the pitch and time control of a record /cd deck ? So i could bypass the need of the external record / cd decks.

If anyone has come acrosss such a plug in ( i havent ) let me know.

Thanks

As you will be using a lot of fairly short clips you could try converting them to Apple Loops, or put some in the EXS & pitch them that way, triggering them with midi notes. Or you could always work out the exact tempo of each & then stretch them all to the same tempo with the Time & Pitch Machine.

Izotope Vinyl

Izotope Vinyl just simulates the surface noise from vinyl records & adds it to an audio track. It doesn't do any sort of pitching.

Thanks for info.

Ive had a go with ableton but not rewired it with Logic. I think for ease ( and i dont know why i didnt think of this) will use the exs24 to trigger and test out potential mixes as suggested..... apple loops idea is a good one as well.

Thanks again.

do yourself a huge favor and turn logic off for doing dj mixes. no need to even rewire it. ableton is the way to go, really. been doing a radio show for 2.5 years now and went through the exact same thing you are now. there's really no better alternative.

Ive heard this before and keep meaning to demo a mix with ableton.

However this mix is a dj mash up/cut up mix and as I understand ableton doesnt allow you to cut the audio to the same extent as LOGIC ? is this true.
