Galacticus
all my dirty rhythm guitar tones sound like boxy garbage. im using a deluxe strat with a pearly gates humbucker, through a Fulltone OCD pedal to a vox ac15, recorded with an original senn e609 a centimeter from the grill in various positions, through the new mbox pro3 (whose preamps are great on everything else). and even when i had a 1073 clone, i never got good tones then either. is there anything im doing wrong or am i just going to have to eq the hell out of everything? after i boost 6db at 5k, its like almost passable, but not really even close still. chellstrom
If you like what you hear coming out of your amp, keep moving your mic around until you get the sound you want. Alternately, if possible, try different mics.
basils
Don't overlook the room. Try, isolating the amp somehow. If you google this you'll see quite a few creative ways to do this, but word of precaution, if your covering it beware of overheating.
Galacticus
was kind of hoping the e609 would kill the room problem but i guess its still possible.
