Adjust velocity with midi controller

Hi

Is is possible when editing in the piano roll to assign a midi controller to alter the velocity value.

I do a lot of velocity editing for classical mockups and this would be really useful - to be able to click on a note and then move a controller with your other hand to adjust the velocity value.

Thanks

Jonathan

Yes, it is possible: double-click the MIDI In button in the Piano Roll's menu bar. The icon of the MIDI connector should look black inside (button on the left in the picture):

Now select a note and press a key on your MIDI controller, to update both the velocity and pitch of the selected note.

It works with all MIDI controllers, since all MIDI controllers send the send MIDI Note on events, including the pitch and velocity attributes. Make sure:

1) The button is double-clicked and has the same look as the one in the picture I posted.

2) The Piano Roll has key focus.

Then all you have to do is select a note and press a key on your controller.

For troubleshooting sake, you can try it with the musical typing window (in the window menu).
