Philipjent
Hey I am looking to get a MBP to replace my G4 tower. My question is can it handle alot of audio and plug ins like my G4 can.? Also is there a huge difference between the 2.2 GHz and the 2.4 Ghz ( on the new MBP's)?
gdoubleyou
Benchmarks show that a Core2Duo Macbook will out perform the last dual G5 Powermac for most tasks. http://www.barefeats.com http://www.xlr8yourmac.com 8)

uncleinabucket
Just did the upgrade you are talking about... i picked the 2.4. It runs roughly 4-8 times more plugs at once than my old dual 1.25 G4. I don't think the difference would be huge dropping .2Ghz off the processor but i wanted to buy what little future proof i could. You cant upgrade the processor One hang-up is the plug-in situation. I don't want to participate in that struggle so I'm just going to use all the logic plugs. In my case all i lost was the Waves native power pack. If you've got a ton invested in plugs, be cautious. Still i have no hesitation about recommending this laptop for the center of a logic studio. Be sure to get a solution for data back-up.
