Raddler
How would I go about saving JUST the effects chain in an instrument channel? For example, I made a nice snare effect chain and tried to save the channel strip setting, but I don't want the plugin (Geist) to appear in the channel with it. I just want to be able to use that chain on anything. I basically just want to save any chain I make and use it on whatever I want. Thanks
Eric Cardenas
Since you are using Logic Pro X you can utilise the Patch Merging feature art the lower left of the Library pane. Enable Patch Merging and deselect Instrument to apply your chain without affecting the underlying instrument.

Eric Cardenas
So... Logic Pro 9 does not have any of the new fancy Library additions. You can however use this workaround: Create a new stereo audio track. Move the inserted plug-ins from your instrument channel to your new audio channel. Save it as a channel strip. Now, any time you want to recall that plug-in chain and use it on another instrument, hold down option and click on the settings button. Choose Audio > [YOUR CUSTOM CHANNEL]. This will insert the chain but keep the instrument.
Raddler
Ah ok, so I guess I need to start with an audio track to create the chain or swap each effect from an instrument track to an audio track and them make the save. Too bad there wasn't an option to exclude the instrument/plugin when wishing to save a chain in an intrument track. Thanks
