erfmufn
EDIT : Apple Just posted the fix . http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/audioupdate2007001.html (news just to hand via tuaw.com...) OS X 10.4.10 causes audio pops in some Macs Well of course I would find this right after I updated. I normally wait a bit after Apple System Updates to see if any problems develop among those of you who just can't wait to hit that update button. According to this thread over at the Apple Support forums( http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4776149 ) , quite a few users are reporting problems with the recent 10.4.10 update. Apparently some folks are hearing snaps and pops in their audio playback after installing the update. Perusing the thread seems to indicate that most of the problems are on Intel Macs with external speakers. So if you haven't updated yet, you may want to wait a few days to see how this one develops. Gilmasher
I just updated the 10.4.10 on my power pc G -5 iMac and I'm also getting a lot of poping in my songs This is not just an intel Mac problem. However, I do have external monitors. Can you undo an update? How long does Apple respond to these kind of problems?
Threlly
I've actually complained to Apple, BUT, my Presonus Firebox is unaffected. It looks like its the internal chipset only.
Bow Rekk
I've got it. It pops a few seconds after something like itunes is closed and immediately before any audio is played. It is as if the audio driver is going to sleep. It also messed up my echo audiofire 4 but they seem to have released a firmware update that fixes that so no problems there anymore. Gilmasher
I also have a PreSonus Firebox and it doesn't seem to be poping or clicking when I play audio through iTunes or whether I play my wave or mp3 files from my internal or external hard drives. The only consistant poping or crackling I get is when I open up a song in Logic Pro 7 and begin playing it. And it pops and crackels the whole time it plays. However, when I open up a new song and begin recording the first track or am just playing an instrument the cracking and poping is almost non existant. Does anyone know if you can undo an update or erase the update by updating the pryor update?
