Falconex
Hello I would like to buy East West and Komplete instruments. As we know, they are huge and take a lot of disc space. So i think the best way will be some external drive. and here begins my dilemma: Fire wire 800 connection with 7200 disc inside ? Or SSd inside ? It make sense with FireWire ? Thundebolt connection with configuration like above ? Is someone uses these to an external drive with success?
Eric Cardenas
I would opt for an SSD and USB3 or thunderbolt.
Falconex
My iMac doesn't have USB3... Why i'm asking about Fw and Thunderbolt... My thunderbolt is busy by adapter (to UAD express card), and it works great. But if there's a big difference between TB and FW, I would be inclined to be disconnected it... I consider even exchange for a big ssd drive inside the iMac.
Eric Cardenas
Large SSD internally is really the best way to go anyway but your available storage will quickly diminish with just a couple these libraries. For example Hollywood Strings Diamond is roughly 310 GB. Does the PCI adapter have two thunderbolt ports? In that case you should be able to daisy chain devices. Falconex
It's just one Thunderbolt and one Expresscard Connector. http://www.sonnettech.com/PRODUCT/echoexpresscard34thunderbolt.html So my thunderbolt is closed... And such a thing as a hub thunderbolt does not exist (as far as I know)... PS. Another question ... If i place Logic projects on the external SSD connected via Thunderbolt they will not loaded very fast? (Comparably with projects placed on SSD that would be in the middle of the iMac?)
