brazilbeatsound
Hello, I know this sounds incredibly outdated, but we have been happily and successfully using Logic Pro 7 since we bought it in 2007. Computer is: iMac5,1, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.16 GHz, 2GB RAM, OS X 10.6.8 Today the XSKey came apart when it was removed from the USB port. This is devastating because we are totally comfortable with version 7, and to upgrade to the latest Logic version it looks like we would need to also buy a new computer. Can you offer a recommendation as to which version we would have to go to based on the specs? Or has anyone recently had any success getting a replacement key? There is no recent info from Apple and lots of conflicting info on the internet. Thank you so much for your help,
stardustmedia
I was working with Logic 8 for a long time under 10.6.8, but my Mac Pro was much stronger than your iMac. The main issues I could see coming up: - Will all your plugins still work? I think they should, but maybe someone else can shed a light on that. - Is 2GB RAM enough for Logic 8? - And, will you be able to get a legit Logic 8? I realize you said that you are comfortable, but maybe it's really time to upgrade. I waited a long time with Logic 8, then finally upgraded to X. And wow... so much better, so many cool very helpful new features. For you it will be like Armstrong doing his first steps on the moon
triplets
What is your audio interface? And how much can you spend on a newer machine, besides the 200 bucks for Logic X?
brazilbeatsound
Hey guys thanks so much for the replies. We run Edirol FA-66 firewire interface which has always performed well for our requirements. Have just been given an official Logic 9 Studio pack with all the disks. Will give the install a go.. unless there is any advice to the contrary..? Thanks again!

brazilbeatsound
YES! It does. The install was sweet and all up and running now. Doesn't seem to be dragging the cpu (yet) and the interface very enjoyable. Thanks again for replying and good luck with your music!
