never-ending sustain...

i've got ONE plugin where i cannot stop the sustain function. it's not my keyboard (a cme xkey37). it does NOT happen in a default template, only in my customized template.

but i cannot find the source of the problem. CC64 stays on? but only with one plugin?

an environment issue perhaps? (an area i am mostly clueless in).

any ideas, anyone? thanx...!

i've been out of the loop (so to speak) for a few weeks. meanwhile...for me, it's nuance (the new beta); they added sustain pedal support. the thing is, the problem is only happening with my custom template, not with a blank one. but i can't figure out where the issue is. interesting that you're having this problem as well. which plugin for you?

I've been out of the LPH for a few years! Um, didntcha notice? :(

I've been having the problem with certain Kontakt sounds. My gut feeling is that it has something to do with Logic, tho. When I put a MIDI monitor snooping program on the case, I see hung sustain pedals. But it happens even on tracks that don't contain sustain pedal! Is that the case for you too?

still trying to figure this out.

if i write notes in the piano roll, they do not sustain.

when i play from my keyboard (again, cme xkey37), the notes sustain.

when i press the sustain button on the keyboard, notes continue to sustain.

then...they STOP sounding completely (with the sustain key held). or a few notes play...

a midi issue? any thoughts? this problem occurs only with the nuance beta, no other plugins.

definitely annoying...!

Could be a MIDI issue...

• if necessary, set the Control Bar (transport) to Custom so you can see the MIDI Monitor

• play just one note and then release it. What kind of message do you see in the monitor? Is it:

- a note on with a velocity of zero?

or is it

- a note off with a non-zero velocity?

I'm tempted to think that this plugin doesn't respond well to this kind of note-off message. Or, it could be that the velocity of zero (which is a bit non-standard) is troubling it.

I've attached a project that will convert note-off messages to note on, velocity = zero messages. See if your plugin behaves any differently in this project file.

"brooklyn boy" haha!

again, the problem does NOT occur in a 'virgin' new logic file, so i thought it was something in my custom-made template. and it's not a problem in your logic file UNTIL...in both your file, and a 'new' logic file, playing a bunch of notes with the sustain pedal held, whole bunches of notes DO NOT SOUND... so NOT simply my template...
