bradt10550
I want to move all of my additional content for logic 10.1.1 to an external hard drive. How fast of a hard drive would I need to keep things running smoothly if I run mostly software tracks (mostly synths but some sampled)? Do I need an SSD or will something like the glyph studio mini or glyph black box be fine?
Atlas007
SSD all the way, if your bus is at par... IMHO, mechanical drives are things of the past. I know that sounds bold, but really, SSD performance really smoke all old drives (mechanical ones) and the price difference is worth it, if you can afford it... bradt10550
I don't want to spend a whole lot of money, but I found the Transcend TS512GESD400K SSD which is reasonably priced at only around $200. Will 410 MB/s max sequential read be fast enough? Sorry for my lack of knowledge, I've never dealt with trying to run samples off of external drives before. Atlas007
As mentioned in my previous post, SSD performance is better in every aspect than any mechanical drives (even those included in Mac currently sold)... So in short, yes.
