Concern over next Mac Pro..

Recommended Posts

I've been reading more articles, that Apple is veering away from a new Mac Pro.. An update is way over due.. Another disturbing fact is Apple's now endorsing USB C.. and have already dropped Thunderbolt, from new laptops..

I've been holding off for 2 years now before getting a new mac pro.. now not sure what to do.. My 2008 is on it's last leg, every week, there seems to be an issue I have to clear up before getting to music.. I'm amazed its lasted this long, never kept one computer so long..

I feel disturbed that Apple might be backing off Thunderbolt,, To be honest, I wasn't prepared for the price different to get a top of the line Mac. (do music, but do plan video editing).. So I guess I'll just have to wait.. These articles, about dropping Thunderbolt, are speculation, and really can't get a straight answer from music stores, If I need one or not..

Anyone else having thoughts about this.. I need more and more drive space.. Kontakt library is about 7 terrabytes. I've got 6 drives in my 2008, works fine.. But I really don't want to spend anymore on it.. Missing a heat sync of mother board.. $1500 to repair.. solder a metal paper clip back on to mother board to hold spring loaded heat sync.. No place will repair it, just replace whole mother board.. Pretty shittty. So far it's been working fine for two years, occassionally I turn the fans up a bit.. There's a safetly which whill shut the machine off before damage is done.. So I haven't hit that point.. Had Macs since 80's.. had a Pc or two. I do not want to purchase a PC to do music one. Nor give up my over 25 years of using Logic..

i don't believe apple are veering away from the mac pro because if you just do a hardcore search and read on the tech sites you'll discover that soon in August or September there is going to be a complete new architecture change of the motherboards with the release of skylake processors and other cpus plus the new thunderbolt 3 with usb c connections and DDR4 Ram and faster pcie... plus usb c is perfect because it can carry 100 watts power and usb3.1 data speed at the same time!, anyway thats what i have discovered.

Thanx8eBreakzer

... I was getting nervous, read about 4 articles, of how they there were probably going to drop it, and thunderbolt... Which I really would have kicking myself, if I bought into a year ago.. I've just been putting off replacing my 2008 mac pro, until the new upgraded Mac Pros. I wish I could say I wish it's the last computer I buy, but I know that won't happen, but with the prices, it may force me to jump ship..

Look i just suggest to you to stop reading all the negative speculative fictional crap all over the net and go to the actual sources like intel etc and read the facts!.., all of these exciting new tech and architect changes that are going to happen very soon is extremely exciting stuff!, the future is nothing to fear ok!.., the new motherboard changes are the reason why everyone is holding off.. soon we'll have skylake and DDR4 ram and thunderbolt 3 at 40gbps with usb-c connections.. plus the benefits of usb-c is amazing.. read the facts about it all ok and stop living in fear of change because you can not stop it.

Yeah from a couple of articles I've read it might be late August stretching out for a while, with different configurations.
