Beacher
New LPX user. Some questions about workflow for this specific application. What I am trying to accomplish ….. I use LPX to generate backing tracks (minus the live instruments) for our performance group. At the moment I have all the songs in multitrack format as audio files with markers for verse, chorus, etc., for each song. It is a pain in the a _ _ to load each song when we play so I would like to have them all in one Project. Some questions about how to construct this ??? I assume I create a New empty Project file with one audio track first (required)? Then, what is the appropriate way to import each song’s audio files along with the markers (if that is possible)? I would prefer to keep all the drum regions etc. on the same drum track(s), keyboards, gtrs, etc,., the same way, so I don’t end up with a separate set of tracks vertically for each song. I am assuming I may need initially to bring the new audio files in on separate tracks then move the specific regions after to the preferred tracks? yes/no? Is there a way to import these songs with their associated markers or do I have to make new for each song once all are in the project? As each song is played, is there a way to have a specific screen shot of the left to right width to fill the screen? Can this be done automatically as each song plays through? I need to know where I am easily when the song plays through. Is there any way to have the Name of each song in a reasonably large display, located in the middle of each song’s left to right region. This would be something similar to the large Beats/time floating window (I can’t find any way to do this). Best way to adjust the overall volume of each song’s elements to match each other. Can you adjust region volumes? So in summary ….. 12+ songs in one project file, spaced horizontally along the ruler. All regions are audio. Track sharing common elements (drums, keyboards, etc) to reduce the vertical number of tracks to minimum. Volume adjustments so the balance and overall volume for each song is somewhat similar. Markers for each song. Screenshots for each song so as it plays it fills the screen (can this be automated), anyway to display the name of each song in large letters as it plays through? I hope I have explained this appropriately ??? I realize some if these requirements may not be possible. Looking for what I can and can't do, and the most efficient way to construct this. Thanks in advance.
Atlas007
New LPX user.Welcome in! Some questions about workflow for this specific application. Many ones! BTW, it could be a good idea to comply to Board rule #5... Probably Mainstage could be a viable alternative. I assume I create a New empty Project file with one audio track first (required)? Not required, but if you wish to play audio files in Logic, you will indeed need to create audio track(s) Then, what is the appropriate way to import each song’s audio files along with the markers (if that is possible)? What markers are you importing? I would prefer to keep all the drum regions etc. on the same drum track(s), keyboards, gtrs, etc,., the same way, so I don’t end up with a separate set of tracks vertically for each song. I am assuming I may need initially to bring the new audio files in on separate tracks then move the specific regions after to the preferred tracks? yes/no?I think that you could import at desired position (track and time position) each of your audio file. Is there a way to import these songs with their associated markers or do I have to make new for each song once all are in the project?Again, what kind of markers? As each song is played, is there a way to have a specific screen shot of the left to right width to fill the screen? Can this be done automatically as each song plays through? I need to know where I am easily when the song plays through.I think that if you use screenset, along with meta events, it is something possible. If you are adventurous, you could even create a control board to navigate from song to song at the press of a button, thanx to the Environment. Is there any way to have the Name of each song in a reasonably large display, located in the middle of each song’s left to right region. This would be something similar to the large Beats/time floating window (I can’t find any way to do this).Perhaps using dummy region(s) named after your song title, positioned on a track or perhaps using a Global track(?) Or again devising something with the Environment (?) Or using the score window(?)... Best way to adjust the overall volume of each song’s elements to match each other. Can you adjust region volumes? That would be an automation task So in summary ….. Rouhgly: yes! Logic has different types of markers. In the global track, the marker track include a selectable/customizable markers sets which you switch from one to another. I hope I have explained this appropriately ??? I realize some if these requirements may not be possible. Looking for what I can and can't do, and the most efficient way to construct this. Thanks in advance. I hope that was helpful...
