Setting up headphones with built in mic

Hi, new to this forum/Logic Pro X. Need a little help. Currently running OSX Mavericks 10.9.5, Logic Pro X 10.0.7.

My setup is: Instrument (guitar) goes into the microphone jack and I record just using the line-in method. Haven't messed with any of the advanced settings within Logic Pro X nor my computer's audio configuration at all.

And I listen as I play using a set of headphones in the headphone jack.

That said, my set of headphones has a built-in microphone, and I'd like to be able to record both my voice and playing simultaneously using said microphone. Is this possible? And if so, how?

Thanks much in advance

I assume your headset is USB.

Google and read about how to set up an aggregate device. Once created select this new device as your audio input in logic preferences.

This will allow you to select that device as the input for logic with the ability to sub select

Different inputs (which you combined in the above step) on your channel strip. So you can have the guitar coming in thru

The built in input and assigned to one channel strip while the headphone mic coming in thru the USB

Assigned to a different channel strip.

An aggregate device allows for audio inputs coming in from different sources to be combine such that when selecting that interfaces the combined inputs or outputs are available to the application.
