USB/Midi Latency

Recommended Posts

I have just downloaded & installed LogicX on a brand new MacBookPro (Mid 2015) 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

I have tried both 2012 AKAI MPK mini and new ARTURIA Minilab keyboards via the usb port (No driver required for AKAI and software installed for ARTURIA and all firmware/software up to date on all concerned) My problem is that there is a half second latency between strike and sound on both keyboards. I have tried both with all available buffer sizes. Different midi channels, Ive taken advice from industry pros that I work with who use Logic in studios and onstage and have followed their advice and tips, which mostly centred around buffer size and up to date drivers. Im now at a loss! I have the same latency when clicking a note on the onscreen keyboard roll.

Does anyone know what is happening here? I could go find another usb keyboard but im thinking this is a Logic/Mac problem

The controller you're using (you said you've tried two) and the MIDI channel setting aren't factors here, so don't chase your tail with that. This is an audio processing or audio setting problem of some kind.

By chance do you have an AdLimiter or any other kind of latency-inducing plugin on your Stereo Output? This is usually a culprit in this kind of situation. If not...

Do you have ReWire activated? (see Audio Prefs)

What is your buffer size set to?

Finally, what happens if you start from scratch, i.e., blank song, load just one instrument and try to play it?
