Macman77
I would like to manually input chord names into a given piano/guitar/instrument track. I use a new Mac book Pro with the latest version of Logic X. How do I do this?
Atlas007
Have you checked the documentation re adding chord symbols?
Jangus
A simple way of doing it, could be doing it with the Marker tabs, although you may have to experience the small learning curve with using markers in the global parameters area. Just rename each marker with the chord name. Hear’s a simplistic example I threw together; handy, when you just have the arrange page open only. Macman77
OK thanks, I could try that. I just thought there was a way to add the chord names to the notation window since I use many markers throughout the songs to mark the chorus, bridge, etc. Is there a way to use one marker set for the arrange window and a different marker set for the notation window? Jangus
If, by what you are now calling “the notation window”, which is what we would call the “Score editor”, in Logic, It is a simple process to add chord names or any other “text object”, like Verse, chorus, etc. in there. You didn’t say that in your original question. The Score Editing window is usually where these things are put. I was only showing you a trick I sometimes use sometimes with the marker window. Also, yes, you can create multiple marker sets, but only one can be showing at a time, as far as I know, but you could switch between them as needed. Hope that helps. Macman77
Yes, sorry about not being explicit enough, and you're right, I meant the score editor. I now see the way to drop in the chord name in the score and how to edit the font (which is too large). I have another question though: Do I have to drag and drop each individual chord name in or can I "scroll" to the next measure somehow? As I would do in Sibelius (by way of space bar, tab, etc). By the way, thank you so much for your help!
Jangus
In the score editor, as far as I know, for text objects, it’s pretty much just Drag & Drop and edit as necessary. To scroll quickly from measure to measure, I usually just use the key commands “.”(period) and “,”(comma). Your Welcome.
uncle808us
Tab To the next note the last note do not tab as it may crash it does in Logic 9. Just click anywhere on the score window. To exit entry.
