semtek
does anyone know if there is a better mp3 converter available than what i have within iTunes. are they all the same by definition? i find that my music sounds rubbish when i convert it to mp3, whilst the tracks I download from, eg, bleep.com sound great... any ideas? thanks
Justin-Ch
iTunes' converter isn't very good. For better results use the LAME encoder. I'm not sure about the technicalities of what & where on your Mac it is, but various editing apps like Audacity & Amadeus use it for mp3 conversion. I've also got a free app called NMP3 Ripper which is a "front end" for the LAME encoder. What does Logic use?
marcel72
IIRC, the iTunes encoder uses some sort of 'enhancer' when it converts, which is never really all that cool of an idea... I just use the Logic bounce dialogue, with the firm assurance that nothing I ever convert to mp3 will ever be heard by anyone who cares about quality. If there's a better app or method, I'd love to hear about it.
