OS X El Capitan - Not supported Software and Hardware

Recommended Posts

I haven't gotten around to focusing on Iris 2 with El Capitan as Alchemy has somewhat stolen its thunder. However, I'm trying to get the plugin to pass Logic's Validation Process.

Iris 2 works with Ableton on my system, so I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced issues with its validation in Logic, and if so are there any corrective actions to take? I am running the most recent version.

EDIT: I have this squared away.

Yesterday I spent 9 hours (maybe more) attempting to install El Capitan.

Without wasting space here, suffice to say that afyer an entire day / evening, and several Apple Support 'chat' sessions, as well as a long phone-support session, which was handled by their 'expert' section, El Capitan is still not fully installing.

It has actually, on the 3rd attempt, installed per se, but has completely wiped out my entire LPX content etc, and automatically went to download the content when I initially tried to launch LPX.

The 'install' sessions also seem to have wiped my Kontakt settings, ( i tried opening Kontakt in stand-alone) and is asking that I 'activate' Kontakt etc etc.

Basically, at this point, it has completely disfigured my entire iMac setup, to the point where my Trackpad won't function as it should, the system is not recognising my Apple ID / password, and the list goes on.

At least I do have the name and contact details for the Support Tech person, so I can try to call him today to see what can be done.

After having read about other people having problems in these and other forums, searches etc, I was not going to install El Capitan.

I finally thought yesterday that by now, surely, the initial bugs would be sorted out. I had read of several people, who are running DAWs etc, that they were happy with this update to OSX.

Now, I really think I should have stayed on my older 10.9.5 OSX. This is incredibly frustrating for a musician who basically knows how to use the programs, and is also up-skilling with newer plugins suites.

I'm no computer technician, and don't understand why it is creating such major issues/errors on my reasonably good computer-based music production system.

For anyone else thinking of updating OSX, I'd be very careful before initiating such procedures.

Best of luck to those who have it working properly, and to those who will inevitably experience similar issues as I am currently.

I'm fed up with 'up to the minute new changes'.. I bought a new mac pro in October.. (computer, hardware changes, Thunderbolt, etc. cost me $8,000). Since music is the only thing in life that really matters, I spent the money..

The Mac Pro I got had a defective Thunderbolt bus, (about 2% do).. After 2 months, Apple sent me a new Mac Pro, and later replaced my 24 TB Thunderbay RAID system (so they could try to duplicate and resolve the issue)..

So I've had to re-activate all my plug-ins 3 times, two new mac pros, and again, when I got a replacement RAID system.. Hours and hours of Apple phone chats.. IK multimedia wanted me to pay $150 to re-download my Sampletank 3 library.. but eventually gave me links to download again and not pay extra.. Dozens of re-activations for all my 3rd party plug-ins.

This change has been the biggest headache of my life. I want to create music, not spend my time debugging hardware, software, compatibility for companies who care mostly about the $$$$..

Much as I love this forum. I don't like coming here to read about all the 'issues' or spend my time 'googling' for solutions..

I've spoken with a few 3rd party software companies who are getting upset, with having to rewrite their code every Logic update.. Several of these companies are small (sometimes 1 person)... Everything for them comes to a halt, to update and be compatible with Apples changes.. otherwise they go out of business.

OK.. sorry for the rant.. Now I'm going to make some music on my new set-up (but not up to the minute).. I'm sticking with Yosemite and Logic Pro 10.2 for a while.. until I'm FORCED to change..

Crappy experience i know, but to put it in perspective, you've been the victim of a hardware fault and further to that the cons of piracy protection. Which, has to be put into effect due to the inability of many people who decide to steal the work of others.

2 month wait to get working hardware that sucks most, i would be livid.

As for the AU architecture moving forwards, i think that's a good thing, AU development has been stale for many years, comparing to VST (as a technology) it's way behind... Apple are moving towards a universal system whereby plugins will work on iOS and OSX, this will really help developers big time to put a single product out to multiple marketplaces.

In my experience as an app developer, Apple are pretty good in getting the libraries and dev environments out to *anyone* with a developer account, and there's a wide range of resources available to you, even the smallest of developers do have a relatively decent window of time to prepare. I'm presuming that applies for those working on audio units too, but maybe it's a dark cold niche place. :)

I remember when users were up in arms at apple because of their decision to commit to 64 bit apps, developers had years to develop third party AU's to be compliant, yet many didn't. I think that strong decisions from up top (i.e. Apple), ultimately, is very good. Compare to Microsoft, they still can't get it together in regards to 32/64 bit compliancy on their flagship products (Office etc.) - at least there's some direction being outlined here.

I don't know how most Logic users feel, i'm not wholly dependant on Logic for an income, nor do i spend on over-powered gear that would serve me no additional benefits - i work very much within my means and am appreciative of the technology available to the modern musician. So, that said, i only view these developments as being LONG overdue and so pleased to see things moving at such speeds.

The option exists for those that don't want to ride the train of course.

I'm installing El Capitan at home and yet I was able to install all plugins (see below). Except one: reFX Vanguard. The installer threw an error. Maybe it's possible to install it with a tool like Pacifist.

Just made the update from Yosemite to El Capitan.

Everything seems fine except the Eiosis E2 De-esser plugin. The plugin manager says it "coudn't be opened"

You'll find the log at the end of this message. Did anyone manage to make this great plug works on 10.11 ?

It's a "resurrected" 32 bits plugin with 32 Lives.

Hello

Has there been an update to the issue with Apoggee Duet not working in OS 10 .11 Yosemite?

I have a USB Duet 2 that keeps getting knocked off of Logic 10.2.2

The duet works fine in other applications like iTunes.

Appreciate any help.

It seems that trying to install (Native Instruments) Komplete 7 (or previous versions) will fail.

There are published workarounds related to hacking the installer mpkg "distribution.dist” file here and there (post #36, onward), but I would feel skittish on trying them considering future updates compatibility issue...

Any thoughts/insights/experiences to share about that?

I just asked the Lexicon support team if they have a timeframe for compatibility with El Capitan and the Lexicon PCM native reverb bundle. Also asked if there are any issues using the current(not updated) version with El Capitan.

Anyone here using this Lexicon reverb-bundle on El Capitan?

Working fine here:

• Logic Pro X 10.2.2

Thanks!

Lexicons reply for anyone who wants to know:

" It hasn’t been fully tested, and I haven’t been given a timeframe. That being said, customers are having success and we haven’t had any customer report any issues at this point."

Everything works after I upgraded the Mac OS to 10.11.4

BL

If you had Komplete 7 (or earlier version) already installed before you update your OSX to 10.11.4, that is normal. The problem is when you intend to install Komplete 7 (or earlier version) on a Mac with more recent OSX version (10.10 onward)...

I'm still on 10.10.5, now that 10.11 has been out a while and the compatibility issues seem to be largely fixed would you say it's worth upgrading? Has anyone noticed any significant performance improvements from 10.10? If not I'm tempted to stay on 10.10.5 as everything seems to be working well with no issues.

Hey Spiralsurfer, Apogee does not support firewire interfaces on El Cap. I haven't updated because of this. Pretty stable at the moment. If you're stable, you may want to stay put until you update your interface. That being said, a lot of people haven't had issues with upgrading their OS, so you could try, but try to do it on a separate drive at first to make sure it's all working well, and be sure to back everything up before you begin.

Thanks for the reply, I'll leave it as is then. Right now everything is good so I'll leave it that way. Have been considering upgrading to an Apogee Quartet so maybe I'll upgrade the OS then too.

I have this problem where I can't move a project from one Mac to another without Kontakt not loading libraries assigned to specific tracks (I've written about this in a standalone thread). Will this be same case within the same system now also if I upgrade to El Capitan?

Hello all,

I've just purchased a used MacBook Pro Mid 2015, 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM, running OS X 10.11.5.

I'm trying to install some plugins but got an error: "Installation cannot proceed as not all requirements were met. this product requires at least mac os 10.4." This had also happened before I updated the OS from Yosemite 10.10.5.

The plug-ins including: LA Scoring Strings, Mojo Horns, NY Concert Grand, etc..., all of which will need to be opened by Kontakt Player.

Is there any way I can roll back the OS to 10.9?

Is there anyone out there had the same problem and got a solution to the problem? I've been so procrastinating about upgrading my DAW to the new computers and now it hits me just like I was worried about. I don't want to toss this new piece in the trash but I will if it ain't help me to do my music. (Just an expression of frustration. It would go on CraigList if I can't find a solution.)

Please help. Thanks a lot.
