Core Duo vs Core2Duo

Hello. Im reachin the limits with my Macbook pro 2 ghz core duo 2gb ram and 160 Gb 5400 HD.

I mostly use Logic Pro 7 and plug ins such as Minimonsta,Predator and Stylus. and Sony Oxford +Waves stuff.

I have been using this computer for almost 1 year, and I need to decide wether I want to buy apple care or not.

Before I invest us$250 in the apple care I would like to know if there is a big difference of how many plug ins more I would be able to run with a Core2duo Macbook pro. Maybe if it makes sense I would sell my macbook pro on ebay and instead of geting apple care I would put that towards the new Core2duo macbook pro.

Let me know what you guys think.

Forget about AppleCare!

I'd definitely choose a new MBPro Core2Duo 2.4Ghz, with a 7200RPM drive.

If your budget allows it, expand your RAM to 4GB. It comes with 2GB standard.

The Core2Duo processor is 64bit <> the CoreDuo in your original MBpro is 32bit.

When Leopard comes out, 64bit computing top-to-bottom will only be possible with Core2Duo Macs.
