hamiltoncomposer
I used a Yamaha WX5 Wind Midi Controller to input a line for a Vienna Instruments instrument (sorry about the redundancy) using the VelX feature which controls blended velocities (although that shouldn't have any bearing on my question.) The result was pretty good, but I wanted to lower the overall level of the data and smooth some things out with the line tool so I went to the step editor, and used controlclickto select the data with the pointer tool. To my surprise I was unable to alter the values. Is it possible to edit breath control data (CC2) that has already been entered?
Plowman
MIDI data *is* editable in Step Editor, and I'm not sure why it didn't work for you. But editing automation is more often done in Piano Roll (or in Main, using Track Based Automation). So if I may, let me redirect your question. Open the region in Piano Roll. Then View > MIDI Draw > Breath. If necessary, View > MIDI Draw > Channel to select the channel that your CC2 data is on. The line will appear representing your CC data. It will be a lot easier to edit here and far more intuitive. Consider as well that this can be done in Score, so the notes will appear directly over the breath controller data. DanRad
I use breath controllers all the time and edit them as follows. I've set up a key command to initiate "Midi Draw-Breath Controller" Unfortunately, in LPX you have to zoom way in to see the line.. but anyway, you can zoom in and see the line and then do edits.. much easier than the event list etc. You can also redraw the line with a pencil tool. You can raise and lower sections of the line by holding option and using the arrow. It doesn't raise and lower it in a linear fashion, but more in a relative fashion.. you have to see it to understand… but regardless, I edit my BC information all the time. Love breath controllers. They give my virtual instruments so much life! Dan Rad
hamiltoncomposer
Thanks for this! exactly what I was after. Much easier, even, than what I was hoping to do. David
jorjazz
Anyone know how to make a wx5 wind controller which can send to cc#80 and #81 receive it as cc11 for expression control without sending note data. like in the YouTube video with Ed shearmur playing it with Hollywood orchestral winds Thanks
