Activation of advanced settings changes recording sound

Hi,

I am new to Logic therefore please bear with me :-)

I am using a MacBook Pro (2013, i7 processor) and am recording mainly guitars with Logic.

Did my first recording today and it sounded awesome...but when I did my second recording and activated the advanced settings, my recording sounded worse. Somehow scratchy, lifeless and dull.

Could somebody please explain which impact the activation of advanced settings has on the recording quality? I did not change my settings or set-up...only activated the advanced settings.

Thanks,

John

Hi John.

That doesn't make any sense.

What kind of audio interface do you use?

Click this link to your signature and add your system information:

• Logic version and sub-version (e.g. Logic Pro X 10.2)

• OS X version and sub-version (e.g. OS X El Capitan 10.11.2)

• Computer (e.g. MacBook Pro, Mac Pro, iMac)

• Processor (e.g. 2.2 GHz Intel i7)

• Memory (e.g. 8GB)

• Audio interface manufacturer and model (e.g. RME Babyface Pro)

(most of that information can be found by choosing Logic Pro X > About Logic Pro X, and  > About This Mac)

Dear Eric,

Dear David,

Thanks for your comments. Fully agree to your view...but some settings must be activated which cause that impact.

My hardware should not be the problem according to my opinion.

Have updated my system information in my signature.

Cheers,

John

Can you detail exactly what sounded worse: did you first do your second recording with advanced tools turned off, listen to it and it sounded good, then turned on the advanced tools and it sounded worse? If you turn the advanced tools back off, does it sound good as it did previously?

Hi David,

I did my recording with the advanced preferences turned off and listened to it. When I then turned on the advanced preferences the recording sounded lifeless and somehow metallic.

Anyway, I did a reset of Logic to its factory settings in the meantime and deleted the file com.apple.logic10.plist in the preferences folder....and now it works, the recording sounds the same with advanced settings turned on and off.

Thanks for your help.

John
