88keys
Alright. Even if this is all they did in this update I'd be thrilled. Throw a tape delay instance on a drum track. Set it to 100% wet and 0% dry. Select the tape head mode to diffuse, drop the clip threshold a bit and roll off some highs. I love it. I admit I haven't tried all the tape sim plugs out there. But I've tried a bunch. And the ones I have tried haven't nailed the smearing you get with tape. They've only seemed to model the saturation. I did better running audio through some old Beamsonic impulse responses of a Studer machine in the past. But I think we've got it now with the tape delay plug. Is it me or is the diffuse tape mode is brilliant? True, it's a little drastic and I'm secretly hoping that someone from Apple reads this and gives us a way to control how much we want - a slider would be nice. But it's a welcomed addition to the plug.

xchrisxtopher
I'm thrilled with the new update. Surely there will be gremlins to pop up as I work on sessions, however, some really annoying quirks have been squashed. Specifically, clicking and zooming in on a frozen region doesn't result in a prompt asking me if I want to unfreeze the track, which was so damned annoying. Also, some weird automation behavior that resulted from the last update – when I would set my marquee selection to line right up with the boundary of another set of automation points would result in erratically changing my already set automation. Thank god that's been fixed. The highlight is the new metering GUIs. Multimeter looks fantastic, and the smooth resizing of each, including the level meter is a welcomed addition! StudioQ1
yo.. so maybe I'm misunderstanding this.. but is the tapehead mode saturation? What is the difference between clean and diffusion?
