adaz4
I have not touched anything as far as I am aware, but suddenly the first beat of my drum loop will not play,(using the drummer track) although all other audio instruments do, and all is set at 1 1 1 1. Any ideas ??
JC amp Black Hat
Sometimes this happens to me as well...have you checked that the first beat is perfectly quantised/placed at the beginning of the loop? If it hits a little early, this may happen. I suspect sometimes Logic does not load the software instruments in time - I do not know enough about its architecture to be sure, but it may be the case. I solve this by either reloading the software instrument or restarting Logic.
MikeRobinson
. . . and what happens if the song starts at measure two, which you then ignore when bouncing it out?
adaz4
If I start at measure 2 .... no problem, the first drum beat is audible
MikeRobinson
... so, what if you did that, and when you finally bounce the project, start on measure #2 and forget the (dummy) first measure. I've read a number of articles that suggest this. After all, no one will ever know . . .
adaz4
I could do but my writing partner in Cincinnati tends to start at measure 1 automatically Also, I like to fix glitches
redgreenblue
This one of many reasons I start every single thing I do a measure 5. This way if I decide I want to add something to the beginning I can.
MikeRobinson
I have heard on more than one occasion that it is best to start your projects to the right of beat-one. (After all, when you finally bounce the thing, you're the one who sets the start and end point.) To me, this is a case where effectively circumventing the problem ... is solving it. With a program of this size and complexity, innocuous "glitches" like this will happen from time to time, and you simply need to bypass them and move on. And, yeah: "you just want to slightly-doctor the beginning of the thing," without running the risk of messing anything up. Yeah, a few "spare" bars might be just the thing. Deliberately leaving gaps in a work-in-progress is another handy trick.
