kevinlamb
Hi - my first time here. I just abandoned ProTools after using it for 20 years.AVID finally drove me away. Took me a while to find this group - there are a lot of dead Logic forums out there. SO, question - - - I always ran Pro Tools software on my Mac hard-drive and stored the files/session on a peripheral 7200 rpm hard drive. Now I have new 2015 rMPBook. It has the new SSD chips (mid 2015 edition rMPB). So, to avoid latency is it best I keep the Logic audio files and session on the 7200 rpm drive or is the built-in SSD chipset the better way to keep a session moving smoothly along? I am just not used to running the application and the session on the same drive.
Eric Cardenas
You can go either way. The old dogma does not apply since the SSD is not a spinning drive with a write and read head.
kevinlamb
Thanks for the quick reply. If it does not make a difference than having the SSD makes for a better portable solution. BUT I am wondering how Logic can host the program, run the session, and not have latency. Latency and Pro Tools are best friends. I don't know how Logic beat the devil. Is it because my Apple 64-bit computer is run native Apple 64-bit software? Or am I going to experience latency in some form with Logic P-X? Eric Cardenas
Latency has nothing to do with disk performance. Your SSD will do just fine.
