Automation not working on plugins? [SOLVED]

Hi. Newbie here. Please can somebody help me with my automation problem. It seems to work great with pan and volume but if i choose a plugin like tape delay or echo it doesn't work. The effect stays on throughout the track while playing which is frustrating. I have the plugin option selected in the automation preferences and selected to latch. Move track automation with regions is selected to always.

Please help.

Click this link to your signature and add your system information:

• Logic version and sub-version (e.g. Logic Pro X 10.2.1)

• OS X version and sub-version (e.g. OS X El Capitan 10.11.3)

• Computer (e.g. MacBook Pro, Mac Pro, iMac)

• Processor (e.g. 2.2 GHz Intel i7)

• Memory (e.g. 8GB)

• Audio interface manufacturer and model (e.g. RME Babyface Pro)

(most of that information can be found by choosing Logic Pro X > About Logic Pro X, and  > About This Mac)

Any further ideas?

Can you define not working?

Just checked if it's working on pro 9 and its the same on there. When i draw in the regions for the effect to come in and out nothing happens. The effect ie the delay basically doesn't automate and plays through the track. Its working for pan and volume.

When i play the track the tape delay runs all the way through when the line is at the bottom and not on the highlighted area where i want it to.....This being the vocal track with the tape delay highlighted.. The fader knob goes up and down but it doesn't turn the effect up and down.....If i use volume or pan it works fine but any plugin i use it just the effect is constantly heard.
