Dybbuk
Hey there, I'm trying to connect my Waldorf Blofeld Synthesizer (desktop) with Logic Pro X. I know about the "External Instrument Plugin" but it doesn't work as shown in many youtube videos etc. I think I'm missing something. I connected my MIDI In from my Blofeld to my Mac. I can easily use the "logic keyboard" or my extern keyboard to control the Blofeld. Next I connected the stereo-out from my Blofeld to my sound card inputs 1&2. My sound card is the Focusrite Saffire 6 USB. I can hear my Blofeld through my monitors perfect, but Logic doesn't detect my Blofeld. In other words: Logic is just my midi controller for a direct output to my monitors. There's no signal shown on the parameters in the Logic mixer. My goal is to use it with Logic so I can add different plugins in the channel strip and affect the Blofeld even more. Just like shown in this video: -> My settings in the External Instrument plugin are: MIDI Destination - Virus TI MIDI (so I can use my Virus as the midi controller) MIDI Channel - All (cause it doesn't matter) Input - 1-2 Result: As I said, a clear path from my Blofeld to my monitors without any trouble, but skipping Logic. I think I might have to tell Logic somehow to "read" my Blofeld, but how? It might be an issue with Logic and my sound card. Thank you for your help ! David Nahmani
I connected my MIDI In from my Blofeld to my Mac. Just to make sure: in audio and MIDI, you always connect an OUTPUT into an INPUT. So a MIDI Out from a device goes into a MIDI In from another device. The Blofeld's MIDI Out should be connected to a MIDI In on your MIDI interface. I think I might have to tell Logic somehow to "read" my Blofeld, but how? You can create an audio track set to inputs 1-2 and record-enable it or input-monitor it, or you can create an Aux channel strip and set its input to input 1-2, its output to your stereo output (the Aux you don't have to record-enable or input-monitor). Perhaps I could have phrased that better. Thanks for your quick help. It works now. It's kinda similar to how it works on Logic Pro 9. Somehow I couldn't transfer my knowledge to the new version. David Nahmani
Perhaps I could have phrased that better. Some people call inputs and outputs, goesintas and goesoutas. Removes any confusion.
keano12
I have my Virus Snow first 2 patches go through Stereo 1&2 patches 3&4 go to stereo 3&4. So I have to record virus to audio tracks two at time. "the TI will let you record more parts at a time from separate outputs" Will this allow me (for instance if recording 4 parts like in Snow) to give them their own outputs to their own audio tracks and record all parts in 1 pass rather then the way I am because of the shared stereo output? Does that make sense? I'm trying to see if there is a way to speed up the process even if it means getting the TI instead of Snow

Yes, exactly.
