joshuac
Hello. Here's what I'm trying to do. I have an audio track (backing track) loaded into one track. I'm turning on Varispeed so that I can slow down that audio region. Then I am putting my guitar into an input monitor enabled track so that I can practice the guitar part with the slowed down backing track. When I alter the Varispeed setting to anything other than zero, there is no longer any audio coming from the input enabled track. I realize that Varispeed is intended to affect the entire song, but is there a way to accomplish what I'm attempting to do without having to time stretch and all that? If I need to do this in another program, I can, of course. But, I'd like to be able to do this is in Logic Pro. Maybe there's a simple way to do this? Thanks! Eric Cardenas
Try record enabling the track. Will that have any effect on the situation?
joshuac
No. Still can't hear the guitar track.
Eric Cardenas
That's very strange. Start by updating Logic to the latest version Post a screenshot of your main window so that we can see if something is off there.
JakobP
Works as expected on 10.0.7 here...
Eric Cardenas
Thanks for checking that Jakob! It's pretty strange that it isn't working for Joshua. I'm nor sure what might be wrong. Do you have Preferences > Audio > General > Input monitoring for focused track and record enabled tracks unchecked?
joshuac
Hi Eric. I can't upgrade just yet, as I am running Mac OS 10.8.5. I do have the preference "unchecked" that you mention. Jakob, are you sure you are using Varispeed and slowing down the playback? I hear the guitar and the backing track audio fine until I change the Varispeed to anything other than 0.0. Then the guitar monitoring goes away. I'm attaching a screen shot. Hopefully you can see all the relevant selections. Thanks.
Eric Cardenas
I understand Joshua. Please add the OS version to your signature! What happens if you try using the built-in interface and just try singing, for the sake of trouble shooting?
joshuac
Yes. Using the built-in audio input (microphone on Mac) and built-in output (headphone jack of Mac) works fine. So, seems like it has to do with my Edirol FA-101 or routing.
Eric Cardenas
Sounds like something is off with the Edirol.
