roniron
When I set the threshold lower shouldn't the output be lower as well? In my compressor it is opposite-when I lower threshold from 0 DB to -10DB, the sound gets LOUDER. Also, the meter shows that it is working more, but the sound is getting louder the more meter shows it is compressing. This is weird and I don't understand it. David Nahmani
When I set the threshold lower shouldn't the output be lower as well? Only if there's no make up gain. In order to really understand how a compressor works, I recommend first turning off the make up gain. For example in Logic's compressor, that's done by setting the Make Up knob to 0 dB and the Auto Gain to OFF. I generally keep the Auto Gain set to OFF and dial the Make Up knob manually as necessary to compensate for the loss of gain that the compression creates. roniron
OMG, that's it. Autogain- what a f...in useless piece of garbage feature set as default. Logic seriously, why are you doing this to us? Why do you set features that are totally unnecessary as default and screw with our minds. I mean- is this deliberately? Thank you for the answer David, but I am so pissed off! The thing is I don't need a lesson in compression as you suggested, it is only HERE in Logic that I need one because here everything works opposite of common sense!
