semtek
My Brother plays Guitar, Sax and Drums. We're going to get him an audio interface for his PC. Budget is around $120. Any suggestions? It's not a lot I know but I'm hoping to get him something approaching decent S
LukeDunn
I would look into the LIne 6 UX2 or UX1. They're fairly inexpensive, and you do get a lot out of them. they also have guitar and bass amp modeling as well as Pre Amp modeling. The modeling is done in the computer, so you should make sure the computer can handle it. hope this helps Luke
Ashermusic
Do him a favor and get him a firewire audio interface not USB. USB is simply not a reliable enough protocol for audio IMHO.
titwillow
spot on asher, i have always (and continue to!) hate usb audio interfaces! i'm sure i've seen some cheap firewire ones around nowadays, good luck
David Nahmani
A little over your budget (seems to go for $155 to $199)... but if you can afford it, go for the Presonus Inspire: http://www.presonus.com/inspire1394.html
semtek
Thanks for the advice. Inspire looks good but his laptop is oldskool and don't have firewire. Line 6 suggestions are interesting, I'll check those out, Ta!
titwillow
if the laptops old and doesnt have firewire, MAKE SURE the usb ports are USB2!!!
semtek
saw a Lexicon one that I quite liked the look of. Does anyone have any experience of using Lexicon interfaces? Cheers, S
