MrSpock
Hi there! A friend of mine has asked if I'll have a go at remixing a song he's done on a Boss BR900 standalone digital portastudio. OK, a few quick questions: I'm presently recording in Logic Pro 9 (64-bit resolution) but these tracks I'm looking to bring in were recorded on the Boss at 16-bit (the highest resolution on this unit). Is this going to cause problems? Will I need to change any parameters in Logic to match the resolution of these files I'm looking to work with or is it just case of bringing them in? (I'm thinking I will use the digital SPDIF line out on the back of the BOSS unit to import the files into Logic.) Any thoughts on this particular subject appreciated! Jordi Torres
Hi, Running Logic in 64-bit mode has nothing to do with an audio file's bit depth. Here's some more info on the subjects: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202016 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_bit_depth Is this going to cause problems? No. Logic can handle 16-bit audio files just fine regardless of the mode you're running it (32-bit vs 64-bit). Will I need to change any parameters in Logic to match the resolution of these files I'm looking to work with or is it just case of bringing them in? No. I'm thinking I will use the digital SPDIF line out on the back of the BOSS unit to import the files into Logic. Apparently there's an utility for converting BR900 tracks into WAVE's/AIFF's which might be more practical: http://www.bossus.com/support/by_product/br-900cd/updates_drivers/5411 J.
