Multispace
Recently I was cleaning up a project from a client as he had the routine of making projects on top of each other by just deleting the regions in the Tracks Area and then start a new project. This wouldn't delete the regions in the Project Browser which contains lots of audio files and regions and his projects became HUGE! So I used the Select unused regions command in the Project browser and then Delete files. To my surprise the Apple Loops that he used before, but not in the current project, were deleted from MY library! So suddenly I missed around 30 Apple Loops on my system. I had to figure out which were lost and copy them from my other Mac. This shouldn't happen right? It should just delete Apple Loops from the project, not the system. Seems like a serious bug to me. Anyone else noticed this? Mark
triplets
What probably happened is that the projects didn't have the Apple Loops saved, but only had a reference to the file. Since your machine had the files, the projects would recreate the reference and point to your files. Wild guess...
Multispace
Thanks, that's what I thought as well, but I wouldn't consider that a feature Mark
triplets
That's the importance of self-contained project folders. Scattered files can create havoc.
abductee9
Sorry I realise this thread hasn't been active for a while but I've had this problem too and haven't found any advice that's been very helpful. When you 'delete files' in audio bin (also known as Project Audio window) then this deletes the files from the hard disk. If you select 'unused audio' and delete files, you would expect that would apply only to audio files taking up space in your project audio folder, not your apple loops folder. Logic deletes apple loops from your drive even if they're being shared between different projects. I have to agree with the OP, this isn't exactly 'a feature'. I've seen advice that ticking the copy 'audio files' checkbox when you 'save as' is a good way to self-contain your projects, BUT for some reason Logic doesn't consider apple loops to be audio files (even though they show up in the Project Audio window) and doesn't copy them - but happily deletes them!! So I would agree with Dave that self-contained project folders are the way to go, but if you want to make sure all audio files (yes, that includes apple loops!) are actually stored in your project audio folder, then you need to additionally select the 'Include Apple Sound Library Content' checkbox when you 'save as'. Hope that helps!

Wow you're right! I had never noticed that. That's pretty bad, indeed. Good to be made aware of it, thank you. I suppose there's got to be a better workflow.
